        Where are you located?

Our postal address is 150 Sandy Road Fingal 3939 which is adjacent to Rye and Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsula. See our maps under the LOCATION tab.

Our stables are located about 1.25 hours south of Melbourne on the corner of Truemans Road and Sandy Road in Fingal. Melway Ref 252 E5.

If you are using a Satellite Navigation system, enter the suburb as Fingal not Rye and DO NOT turn into Sandy Road from Limestone Road as your Sat Nav might say. You must enter Sandy Road via Truemans Road. See our directions under LOCATION for more information

        What are your Opening hours?

We are open throughout the year. The hours of Operation vary with the seasons but are usually 9a.m to last ride of the day

        What are your Age Restrictions?

Pony Rides - age 3 years old
1 Hour Ride - age 6 years old
2 Hour Beach - age 10 years old (Can be younger if on a Private Ride) 8 years old on our 'WALK ONLY' St Andrews Beach Ride
        Children's Holiday/Weekend Program - age 6 years old

        What are your Weight Restrictions?

Many of our horses are not able to carry big weights for too long and weight restrictions may apply for riders betwen 90 and 100kgs. Restrictions vary according to a customer's height and riding experience. See details under WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS or talk to our staff when booking for further details.

What do I need to wear?

For your own safety and comfort we require you to wear long pants and enclosed shoes. Jeans and runners are quite acceptable. Soft canvas shoes are not advisable. Loose or flowing clothing such as scarves can scare other horses and are not permitted on the ride.

Do I have to have riding experience?

No, riding experience is not necessary. In fact many customers who ride on our St Andrews beach ride have never been on a horse before. Our rides do cater for both novice and experienced riders.

Are the horses quiet and safe?

Yes, our horses are trail riding horses and are used to inexperienced riders. They are well behaved and we have certain horses that are suitable for complete beginners and other more forward horses for the more advanced rider.

        Can I take a Camera?

You can bring a small camera with you and there will be an opportunity to take photos on the ride. We have small 'bum bags' to carry your camera. Larger cameras may not be taken.

Do I need to arrive early?

Arrive at Gunnamatta Trail Rides 30 minutes before your ride is scheduled to depart. If you are late and the ride has already departed, you will not be able to catch up and your deposit will be forfeited.

        What happens if it rains?

The ride will still go out in the rain, so if it is forecast to rain bring a waterproof jacket. We do not cancel a ride because of rain as some of the best scenery is seen on overcast days.

In the rare case where we do cancel a ride due to electrical storms, we will notify you and arrange to reschedule your ride.

Do I need to book or pay a deposit?

Yes, bookings are essential for all of our rides. We require a deposit of $30 per person at the time of booking. Deposits can be paid in cash, on a credit card or by direct deposit. Deposits are non-refundable but if you cancel a ride with at least 48 hours notice, you can transfer the deposit to another day within 6 months.

Do you have credit card facilities?

We have credit card facilities for Visa and MasterCard. Payments can also be made by cash, cheque or direct transfer. Please contact us for further details.

What size groups can you cater for?

Whilst we can cater for groups for up to 40 riders, we do not send out rides in large groups. Generally our rides are for between 4 to 8 riders with occasional larger rides in very busy times.

Private rides can be for 2+ and will only be your group and our guide(s)

How many horses do you have?

We have approximately 60 horses although not all horses will be in work every day. This is one reason why we need to know if any rider is over 90kg so that we saddle up the most suitable horses each morning.

        Are your guides experienced?

All of our staff have experience working with horses, have first aide qualifications and undergo regular in-house training.

Can I go for a gallop?

We do not allow any of our horses to gallop. If you are confident and competent, there are opportunities to canter on our St Andrews Beach ride and on our 3 hour bush ride through Green's Bush.

        Do you have insurance?

Yes we have insurance and details are available on request.
